309 is a high temperature resistant chrome-nickel austenitic stainless steel that is resistant to oxidation at elevated temperatures in dry air at temperatures up to 1900 ̊F. This grade can be resistant to oxidation at temperatures of about 1850 °F under thermal cycling conditions. Type 309 has good resistance to sulphide, but has low carburization resistance and should not be used in highly carburized atmospheres.
309s is a variant of 309 stainless steel with a lower carbon content for applications where welding is required. The lower carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat affected zone near the weld, which may result in intergranular corrosion (weld erosion) in certain environments. It can withstand repeated heating below 980 °C, with high temperature strength and oxidation resistance.
309H (UNS S30909) is a high carbon modification developed for enhanced creep resistance.
Manufacturing process for 309s/309h stainlesss steel seamless pipe：
Round tube billet → heating → perforation → head → annealing → pickling → oiling (copper plating) → multi-pass cold drawing (cold rolling) → blank tube → heat treatment → straightening → hydraulic test (inspection) → mark → in Library.
